A quick look at today!

I have been so caught up in daily happenings in my life for the last few months, I have not taken time to reflect on how I feel. I just looked my granddaughter Nicole's blog and felt so inspired by it. She is so centered and has grown so over the years, it makes me so proud of her. She loves and appreciates her life and her family and friends; she is so intuitive. She is taking time to "smell the roses." She is such a good example for me to help me to be more aware of my own life. I so often allow my life to run me rather than the other way around. I just enjoyed a super celebration of my 74th birthday and Reeves family made me feel so special. We were in Fallbrook (just north of San Diego) and in Barstow for a niece's wedding. It was such a special time to be with family.

Busyness vs. Serenity

Bud's daughter Katie is spending 5 days with us and everything is going very well. She seems much more content living with her Mom now. Today, she wanted to go out on errands and just do stuff so we went to Longs, the Dollar Tree, Starbucks, and 2 banks. We then got flowers and took them over to Krista since today is her birthday. We were rushing from place to place and I couldn't help but think back on the day that we went to Monterey with my sis and bro in law, Gay and Mike Percy. It was so beautiful along the 17 mile drive. We saw the lone cypress, seals beaching, waves and rocks, and of course the magnificent ocean and rocks. I truly love both types of days and it is fun to balance out in my mind the sharp contrast between the 2 experiences. I love being with and interacting with people but I really need time alone to realize God's beauty and peace.

Our Pismo Vacation

Barb and Bud waiting for dinner at Jocko's Barb and brother Jim on the sand dunes
The whole gang at our table at Jocko's
The huge barbedue at Jocko's-delicious food is cooked there
Our "dueling computer" area-Ken and Jim and working on Ken's computer

Reeves and I drove to Pismo Beach the beginning of August to be with Barb's brother, Jim and his family. We spent lots of time sitting around just enjoying relaxing. A lot of time was spent on our computers since Jim and I love working on genealogy together. We went out to eat at Rosa's Italian Restaurant and to Jocko's in Nipomo which is a barbecue restaurant with delicious, huge dinners. All 11 of us thoroughly enjoyed all of the good food. The sunsets were magnificent; we would walk down to the beach area and just stand in awe of God's creation of the land and the water and heavens. Had fun at Office Max and the Scrapbooking and Gift stores.

Longs Employee of the quarter!!!!!!

I am still working at Longs Drugs after almost 18 years. I still love working with people and thoroughly enjoy the occasional chats with long time customers. I will probably keep doing this for awhile. I have already received employee of the year, so to receive this award was truly frosting on the cake!

Lovin' Life

As you all know, I love computers and thought blogging would be a fun way to document my personal history. Not to mention, my granddaughter Nicki practically made me start one. In any case, here I am ready to unveil my life to the world, well not really...but it sounds exciting! Ready or not, the life of Barbara Lodi is ready to be unfolded! Stay tuned...
